From Bandung to Berlin (est. 2014) is a project initiated and conceptualized by Brigitta Isabella and co-authored with various artists and thinkers working on the spatiotemporal and speculative connections of the 1989 Fall of Berlin Wall and the 1955 Bandung Conference. In 2016, From Bandung to Berlin: If all of the moons aligned was elected as the project’s curatorial period that materialized a physical exhibition curated by Brigitta Isabella and Renan Laru-an at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin.

In this conversation, co-curator Renan Laru-an endorses the weight of emotion in prospecting the discursive claim of exhibitions. When curating historical themes and subjects, Laru-an invites the public to reflect on the question of alliance and allyship—who do you know and trust?—in mobilizing curatorial agenda and artistic comments beyond their contexts of initiation and discussion.
